Police have made thefts from vehicles on Weston Park a local priority, saying they have seen an increase "in recent weeks". The notice, set on 22 October, says the thefts are often aimed at parcel shelves.

High-visibility and plain-clothes patrols will run at the times the offences are being committed. The stated aims are to cut the crime, deter offenders and bring those responsible through the system. The notice does not give the hours or an end date.

For anyone parking on Weston Park, the sensible move is to leave nothing on show, parcel shelf included. Patrols help, but they are no substitute for an empty car.
